Tobacco
is one of the most dangerous substances that you can
take into your body. Over 200 known poisonous substances
are in tobacco smoke. Nicotine, arsenic, cyanide, carbon
monoxide, formaldehyde and phenol are a few of the more
commonly known ones.
A two pack a day smoker
shortens his or her life by eight years, and even light
smokers, those who smoke one to nine cigarettes a day,
shorten their life expectancy about four years. Smokers
take 22 percent more sick time than non-smokers and
require 10 percent longer to recover from illnesses.
Every smoker is injured
to some degree by every cigarette he lights. A one pack
a day smoker puts one quart of tobacco tar into his
or her lungs every year. As these sticky tars paint
the lungs, chemicals cause the lungs to become stiff
and lose their elasticity, a condition known as emphysema.
It is significant that emphysema is irreversible and
incurable. Once lung tissue has lost its elasticity
and the air sacs rupture, the lungs' function is destroyed
permanently.
Lung cancer is the leading
cause of all cancer deaths, and cigarette smoking causes
most lung cancers. The reason that lung cancer is particularly
dangerous is because very early in its development the
cancer is prone to spread throughout the bloodstream
to other organs in the body. By the time the cancer
is found, it has often already spread to the liver,
brain and bones. The particularly sad fact is that the
primary treatment of lung cancer is surgical removal
with only about a 10 percent cure rate. The key treatment
for lung cancer lies in prevention of the cancer through
elimination of smoking.
Strokes are a common cause
of death in patients having a combination of uncontrolled
high blood pressure and a history of cigarette smoking.
Smoking is also one of the leading causes of gingivitis,
a gum disease The tars from tobacco smoke coat the crevices
between the teeth and underneath the gums, causing deposits
of destructive plaque and pockets of pus. Cancer of
the lip is primarily caused by smoking and excessive
exposure to sunlight.
Smokers have a high incidence
of bladder and kidney cancer because the chemicals from
tobacco tars, which have been absorbed into the bloodstream,
are excreted through the urine. These cancer-causing
chemicals are in constant contact with the bladder throughout
all the years the person smokes and ultimately produce
cancer in these organs.
Hypnotherapy is the
best way to stop smoking permanently. If smoking
is just a bad habit, then one session can make you a
non-smoker for life. If your smoking results from deeply
buried subconscious negative forcing functions, then
hypnotherapy must uncover and eliminate these so your
subconscious computer can be reprogrammed for you to
become a permanent non-smoker who is healthy again.
